Gary Nicholls – Niagara Regional Police
I would like to personally thank you for your assistance during the World University Games July 13 thru July 17, 1993. As you know, the Niagara Regional Police Service was responsible for providing security for the athletes at the Henley Island venue.
Your early morning attendance at Henley Island, and the Main Street Grandstand, with your Explosives Detection Dog, allowed us a much greater level of comfort than would have been otherwise possible.
Again, for your understanding of our financial situation and your very professional assistance, I thank you, and wish you every success in
future endeavours.
Lt. G Hilton – Niagara Detention Centre
Please accept this letter as a note of appreciation in regards to your demonstration of your dog’s drug detecting ability on August 9, 1991. The demonstration was satisfactory and we at the institution were impressed with the duration of the dog’s ability to detect evidence of residue. Should we require your company’s services in the future we will consider your company for its ability in this area.
RK Allay – Chief, Correctional Operations Stony Mountain
I have been acquainted with Syd Murray for 4% years. During this time, he has been responsible for placing guard dogs in various western Canadian Institutions and conducting contraband searches in all western Canadian Institutions, primarily in the recovery of illicit drugs. Mr. Murray’s responsibilities were to provide and maintain top quality dogs at Stony Mountain and Edmonton Institutions, to train staff in the handling of these dogs and to conduct a minimum of BAX —— per year at the six western Federal penitentiaries.
I have found Mr. Murray to be completely reliable, dependable and most competent. He met all deadlines without fail. His Searches were most effective and efficient, and his dogs performed for him in an outstanding manner. Mr. Murray’s very presence in the Institution proved to be a deterrent to the population’s attempts to conceal contraband. IT found Mr. Murray performed his duties and responsibilities in a most professional manner.
Lieutenant-colonel P Prevost
The international air show, that took place at Bagotville’s military base on June 9 and 10 2007, was a big success. I believe that it’s relevant to mention that the success of this operation is, in part, due to the implication of the members of the K-9 Division.
Under the excellent supervision of their handlers, your canines performed extremely well and their presence was very appreciated. Their handlers had a professional attitude in their work that reflected positively on your organization. So, I want to give you my most sincere thanks for a work very well done. I also want to thank you for the support your company gave to our military base during this air show.
Your collaboration and assistance contributed to the success of this event. Once more, thank you very much.
B Gauthier – Canadian Customs
Please accept this as a letter of reference for Mr. Sid Murray of Edlyn Kennels, Fenwick, Ontario, Canada. First, please allow me to introduce my self. I have been employed with the Canadian Government as a Customs Inspector for 24 years. For the last 19 years I have been assigned to the Detector Dog Service of Canada Customs.
I have trained and handled several dogs used in Drug and firearm detection during these years. I am Certified in that field by the Canadian Government. Two years ago my wife Linda also joined the program and she is Certified as a Dog Handler with Canada Customs working with a Currency Detector Dog. I have know and associated with Mr. Sid Murray for the last 20 years and have done considerable evaluating, training and handling of dogs with him.
We continuously observe each other while working and share opinions and critiques on the handling and training of Specialty Dogs. Although I specialize in Drugs, guns and currency, Mr. Murray has trained dogs in detecting various other scents. The handling and bonding with the dog is the important part. The scents introduced to the dog are of secondary nature. My wife and I hold Mr. Murray in high esteem and are very confident in his abilities as a Specialty Dog Trainer.
C North – RONCO Consulting USA
I worked with Mr. Sid Murray in Bosnia and later in Kosovo. He was a Senior Mine Detecting Dog trainer and instructor/supervisor, I was Chief Technical Advisor for Handicap International, a mine and UXO clearance organization. Mr. Murray is’ fiercely loyal, reliable and hard working, he always sees the task through to the end and is always willing to work that little extra to help out fellow workers, this combined with his sense of humor make him a valuable and trusted asset to any job, task or operation.
I definitely would rate Mr Murray as being 100% honest, reliable and trustworthy One of the “non trade” strengths of Mr Murray is that he is excellent at dealing with the public and at interacting with persons under his instruction/guidance, he gets on well with work colleagues Mr Murray was always a valued, resourceful and extremely reliable work collegue, I would happily work with him again without hesitation.
As far as I know, all who have worked with him hold him in high regard both professionally and personally.
L Malin – Iraq National Mine Action Authority
I am the Chief of Staff and Senior Operations Advisor to the Iraq National Mine Action Authority. I have been involved in Mine Action in Iraq for 2 years, and have also worked in Bosnia, Kosovo, Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on similar projects.
Prior to this, I was a Major in the British Army, retiring in 1989, my final duties being with Special Forces. I have been involved in conducting and managing high risk search and operational Improvised Explosive Device Destruction duties in several countries. I have utilised the skills of canine search teams on many occasions and am very familiar with the operational deployment and use of these capabilities.
It was my great pleasure to meet Mr Murray in Bosnia and assist him in facilitating the establishment of a Mine Detecting Dog school as part of a Canadian International Development Agency project. Whilst working with Mr Murray, I gained a great deal of respect for the way he conducted training, managed the welfare of the dogs, and generally carried out all tasks, with enthusiasm and professionalism. The dogs he trained were objectively and independently tested, and their abilities exceeded all expectations. Several years later, I met Mr Murray in Kosovo, where he was providing canine search capabilities to a Canadian organisation carrying out Mine Clearance activities. Again, I was struck by the results he was able to achieve, and the professionalism with which he carried out his duties.
Where Mr Murray and canine support is concerned, he ranks amongst the very best.
MR Bell – Winnipeg Police Inspector
Mr. Murray was hired as a trainer and consultant for the Winnipeg Police Service Canine Unit in 1331 and provided a valuable and unique service. After establishing what cur standards were, he subsequently delivered four fully trained service dogs. After a short bonding period, the does were pressed into police service, This technique was not heard of in this region and proved to be very successful, mainly due to Syd’s extensive knowledge and high standards in this specialized field. He is a credit to the profession and his efforts here in Winnipeg were very commendable.
GF Ouellette – Thunder Bay Police Chief
On behalf of members of the Thunder Bay Police Force I wish to convey our thanks for a job well done in providing us with a worthwhile replacement for our canine unit. In addition, we appreciate the ongoing courtesy shown Constable Jardine while he was with you.
G Park – Winnipeg Police Inspector
Mr. Murray has been acting as a trainer, and consultant for the Winnipeg Police Department, Canine Unit since December 1991. He has supplied our department with one trained Police Service Dog and is currently under contract to supply a second dog. His expertise and advice in this field as well as in the area of detection (Specialty Dogs) has been most helpful and greatly appreciated.
Jack Shirley – Tupelo, Mississippi Sheriff
I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you how pleased we are with a German Shepherd that came from your kennels. You knew him as Calgary’s own Royal, but we call him Rommel. I have been Rommel’s partner for app. one and a half years. I could not ask for a better canine. Rommel is certified as a patrol dog by the USPCA and as a detector dog by the NNDDA. This is in addition to his Schutzhund titles. Rommel served with me during the Persian Gulf Conflict. He is the only civilian canine to be called to active duty. He served with distinction protecting Ml tanks in a motor pool and made two drug busts. I can’t thank you enough for my partner. Please feel free to use me as a reference in the future.
D. Gittings – Niagara Regional Police
Inspector William Park has informed me that you and your dog ‘Trooper’ recently assisted officers of the Niagara Regional Police Force during an incident in Niagara Falls.
I would be remiss if I did not thank you for that assistance on what was described as a very cold and damp night.
I am aware that this is not the first occasion that you have come to the aid of our Force. Your knowledge and experience as a dog trainer have been a valuable resource.
Please accept my personal appreciation, as well as that of the Force, for your kind support. I trust that you will pass on my comments to ‘Trooper.’
Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office
Within the past year the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police has been researching explosive detecting canines with the possibility of adding an explosives detection canine to the bomb squad.
A number of canine training facilities were considered. One of the facilities that came highly recommended was Ediyn Kennels, LTD., Fenwick Ontario, Canada, which is owned and operated by Mr. Sid Murray.
Back in February of 1994 our canine unit coordinator and one of our bomb technicians visited Mr. Murray’s kennel. Upon their return they met with the administration and relayed some very positive feed back concerning Mr. Murray’s operation. The decision was made to obtain an explosives detection canine through Edlyn Kennels, LTD.
A canine was personally chosen by Mr. Murray for our needs. Mr. Murray trained the canine in explosives detection, firearm/ammunition detection and tracking. Mr. Murray brought the canine to us for the last two weeks of training. Upon arrival the canine was united with our handler. The final two weeks consisted of intense training and acclimation involving the canine, handler and Mr. Murray.
During these last two weeks of training we had two incidents arise that required the utilization of the canine. The first incident involved a suspicious package that was mailed to one of our assistant states attorneys. We responded to this assistant states attorneys office which is in our courthouse. The canine, handler and Mr. Murray went into the office. The canine was not able to detect the presence of any explosives. The package was then x-rayed.
There were no explosive components present. The second incident involved a search of several buildings in an area where a Klu Klux Klan rally was going to be held. No explosives were located. However, the search was conducted more expeditiously and with more accuracy than normal.
In both of these incidents, the canine reacted as if he was a veteran. The intense training and devotion by Mr. Murray is very commendable. Since the canine’s initial training has been completed he has been utilized in several situations where he has reacted very favorably. The canine continues to intensely train with his handler and actively work with the bomb squad.
Mr. Murray continues to be our main consultant for matters concerning our entire canine unit. Mr. Murray also Maintains the certification requirements of all our canines with his training and expertise.
On behalf of Sheriff Donald J. Gasparini, our administration, canine unit, and bomb squad, I would recommend the devoted efforts and expertise of Mr. Sid Murray to any organization seeking professional level canine supply, training and consultation.
Roger Merkley
My shepherd doing well, thanks to your advice. No more biting and aggression. He’s much calmer as well.
G Park – Winnipeg Police Inspector
Thank-you for the excellent assistance you provided our K~-9 Unit this past year. The advice given and suggestions made during the several telephone consultations with our members have helped us a lot. We are also grateful for the Certification Program you conducted here in September of this year. We will surely have long term benefits from that program.
I am advised by our finance unit supervisor that the 1993 funds budgeted for the purchase and training of a dog for our K-9 unit has received preliminary approval. We intend to purchase the dog from EDLYN KENNELS LIMITED and I have initiated the purchase process. I will contact you further as things progress to allow you the maximum time to prepare for this transaction.

In 2013 I got in touch with Sid Murray because I wanted to start my own company in canine narcotics detection. In our first conversation Sid asked me what kind of canine I wanted to work with and what I wanted to get out of my dog. We agreed to meet and pair me with a dog to start my training. I got to Sid’s training facility in early 2014. Sid’s canines are already trained in either narcotics, accelerant, bed bugs, human remains, and ammunition and explosive. Upon your arrival he pairs you with the canine that would suit you and you start your own training with this canine. Sid is very good at helping you understand the dog’s job and how you fit into it. Essentially your job is to guide the dog into doing the best job it can. I spent a week training with Sid at his facility which ended with a certification exam with the American Working Dog Association. The AWDA is a global certification which permits you and your canine to work everywhere in the world. Sid is very adamant about making sure that both you and the canine are able to work together and complete the job before you go pass the exam. Every year I go and get re-certified by A.T.S. K9 at his facility. I have worked with two of Sid’s canines and both of them were excellent at their jobs. Sid’s expertise in training both canine and handler really helps in starting your own canine detection business. Not once did I feel lost about what was expected of me and my canine, because Sid is an amazing teacher. For Sid your training does not end when you leave his facility, and in my experience he is always there to guide you through obstacles that you encounter in your own endeavors. I am eternally grateful for Sid’s continuous help and expertise. I would recommend A.T.S. K9 and Sid Murray’s to anyone looking to get into canine detection with someone experienced and reliable.
Sincerely, Kevin Roussy
Brian E. Cutlip
To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Brian Cutlip I am a Deputy Sheriff in Ohio with 18 years of service. I have been an explosives detection k-9 handler with my agency now for a little over 9 years. I just finished up my 1st year with my second dog, both being trained by Sid. The first bomb detection dog I handled was Cori which was trained by Sid and also was my first dog as a handler. I received Cori fully trained and let me tell you her training and drive was like no other and as a first time handler she (Cori) helped me learn and did an amazing job for 8 years. Cori averaged 600-700 uses yearly and passed state, national and federal certifications with ease all thanks to her training. My current partner Anna as I said came to me in February of 2016. I spent 5 days with Sid and Anna after her training was complete. I wish it was a month simply because the knowledge Sid has of the dogs and training techniques were endless. I brought Anna home and immediately ran her through a state of Ohio required certification and as I expected Anna did amazing and was certified then sworn in by my department.
I have attended multiple group training exercises and seminars around the state with hundreds of other agency k-9 teams and have had countless compliments on both of my dogs and how they focused and performed top notch.
I just cannot say enough about ATS K9, Sid and his team’s knowledge, dog training skills and willingness to pass many years of training and experiences on to the handler during their training with him. I look forward to many more years of business with them.
Sincerely:
Deputy Brian E. Cutlip

We have been using the services of A TS K9 for several months. Sid and his team are very capable, friendly, professional and discreet. While recently discovering a bed bug issue we were referred to Sid Murray of ATS K9 by Orkin Canada.
Working with the dogs to eradicate these elusive pests, Sid and his team have provided us with peace of mind. Within a few weeks of treating our rooms we invite the K9 team back to verify if our efforts are successful. By allowing the dogs to pinpoint the affected areas we are better equipped to have the treatments applied effectively.
The expertise of this talented team have saved us a lot of time and money.

Hi Sid & Marg,
I just wanted to send you an email thank you for taking me under my wing and helping me to fine tune Myra with her bed bug training and for getting her certification with AWDA. Your extensive knowledge of canine detection training will help me greatly in my new ventures with my dogs. I really enjoyed training in all your different scenarios that you have set up in your warehouse. It really influenced me on how to set up my own training for my future dogs. Thank you for the gift of your books! I have already read both of them.
I look forward to seeing you in the future with more of my dogs.
Take care,

We contacted Sid after we couldn’t find anyone to help us in Alberta. We traveled across country with our dogs for a weekend of training. I’ve attended a few detection training seminars in my professional career, but none as thorough or experienced as this! We were able to make some big strides with our dogs in just a few days. The knowledge gained was as valuable as the skills. Very happy with the service we received.

True professionals! And I’m not just talking about the people. The dogs are incredibly well trained and execute flawlessly.
I’ve used ATS for numerous narcotic sweeps and they never cease to amaze. During the sweeps, the dogs will hit on multiple areas and surfaces in the areas we are sweeping. To the naked eye there is usually nothing there, but when we test the areas for residue as a follow up, every spot is a hit. Reliable. Professional. And a pleasure to work with.

A special thanks, Sid from Olympus Security & Investigations in helping us conduct a successful bomb and explosive search on April 29, 1991. Thank you Sid I feel very blessed that you and Margaret came into my life at this time. I am so fortunate and really needed your help the help of a very experienced master dog trainer. And you know what Sophie is beginning to relax and realizes there is no reason to bark at everything. Thanks to you Sid
Knowing some of the background with Sophie, ie someone agitating her and developing an aggression to bark and bite some people, help me to understand some of her problems. Because you were such a good student and doing what I asked helped clear her problems. It is not an overnite fix, you have to work at it in every different situation.

We never would’ve expected the high level of professionalism and understanding that we were met by.
Sid Murray understood our problem and we purchased a Belgium Mal from ATS .
The dog that we have “Radar“ Is an amazing dog. Upon arrival for our training , whatRadar was at the top of his game. Sid was VERY patient with us and we now are serving the First Nations communities to address the drugs being brought into our isolated communities.
Sid without question is the best trainer/ teacher I have ever met. The dogs are extremely excellent on all commands and adjust well to a new home!
Sid and Margaret your expertise will save lives in our communities!
ATS is the BEST!
Chi Miigwetch! ( Thank you)
R Cota – Mossonee Jan 2024
Our company , Creegonquin is a First Nations business located on James Bay in Cree Territory , Treaty 9.
We purchased a trained Malinous named “ Radar “ in late 2023.
Our moto is “ Saving lives”
We now have Radar working in our First Nation communities.
We have seized crystal meth, speed marihuana and hashish and much more .
This dog is a machine! Masterfully trained and ready to detect drugs and alcohol.
What a pleasure to work with this K9 .
The level of dedication that Sid and Margaret put into finding the right dog, training not only the dog but the trainer is amazing!
We commend this couple for putting out only quality K9’s but being there when the questions need to be answered on follow up in the field.
Can’t say enough!
Well done, and now buying a second dog!
Chi Miigwetch!
Your helping us “ saving lives !”
